STOP! 'What are we doing wrong with animals?'

We all want to keep pets at home, but many of us are unaware of what we are doing with those poor animals. We advise you to read some of the rules that will need you to keep these pets alive.

  • Most Mammals Lose Their Ability To Digest Milk When They Grow Up

As kittens, their small intestinal cells naturally make an enzyme called lactase, which breaks down the sugar found in milk , called lactose.
That's important, because newborn mammals get all their nutrients from milk produced by a parent's mammary glands so their bodies definitely need to be able to process it.
When undigested lactose passes through the large intestine, those cells end up secreting a lot of extra water to deal with it.

The milk of every mammal species has a unique blend of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates to meet specific nutrition needs so kittens need cat milk to thrive.

Cow's milk has way more lactose, than the average adult cat can handle, and even though kittens are better at breaking down the sugar, it's not great for them either.

  • Never Leave The Dog Alone in The Car

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration, the temperature inside a car can increase by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes, even if the car is parked in the shade.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Association confirms this date and adds that even if the temperature outside , pleasantly cool 60 degrees Fahrenheit , it can skyrocket up to 110 degrees inside car!
Dogs don't sweat like people do, and they can OVERHEAT much faster than you think, and since they lack this crucial ability to cool themselves off, the consequences of staying in a parked car can turn out fatal.
Sings of overheating, include drooling and panting excessively and looking overall agitated.Symptoms like vomiting, Diarrhea or Lethargy indicate a life-threatening emergency. In this case , the dog needs to see a vet immediately.

  • Locking your rabbit up

Each year, thousands of rabbits are abandoned by owners who didn't know what they were signing up for. But bunnies are wonderfully rewarding pets for those who do their research and are willing to commit. And once you make that commitment, you're guaranteed years of happy companionship.

So you moved your rabbit inside, but now what? Many cages sold by pet stores are far too small for even a young rabbit, let alone a grown one. Keeping them in these tiny cages can cause a range of health problems, including obesity and even deformities if they're not able to move around naturally.
And that's the minimum. Many rabbit owners choose to let their rabbits have free range of their house (after rabbit-proofing them, of course) just like a dog or cat would.

  • Read Before You Add A Mini Pig To Your Family

Keeping a pig at home may seem light but not. Many of you may be wrong when it comes to food.
Which foods are safe to feed pigs?
grains, fruits and vegetables (free of contact with meat)
Australian milk or milk products
milk and milk products imported into Australia for stockfeed use
used cooking oil only used for cooking in Australia and processed according to the National Standard for Recycling of Used Cooking Fats and Oils Intended for Animal Feeds.

BUT YOU HAVE NO YARD...really?? Then you shouldn't have a pig! You cannot expect a pig to live in an apartment day in and day out, maybe confined to a crate or bathroom, and not become bored and start to find the wrong kinds of things to do. Oh...and many full time indoor pigs also develop leg and foot problems because they're living on an unnatural surface.
YOU CAN'T KEEP IT CONTAINED...really?? Pigs require a GOOD fence to keep them home...an even better fence if they're not spayed or neutered. If you cannot/will not do what you need to do to contain it and keep it safe you have no business owning one. And a good fence is NOT a chain link dog kennel.
